Change is scary. It’s one of those things that can stop you from making any decisions. As of August 1, 2017 I will no longer offer wedding video.  I was recently at a workshop hosted by Jide Alakija and he challenged me by saying, won’t your customers be confused on what you do?  I hesitated and said no, but the more I thought about it, I knew he was right.

I’ve had a great run over the last 7 to 8 years offering wedding cinema for clients.  I’ve had countless couples thank me and saw amazing stories, moments unfold before my eyes. I’ve seen brides at their best and sometimes, at their worst. Some of my former wedding video brides are my friends now and even assist and work for me on shoots.

What does all this mean, especially if I hired you for 2018?

If I’m currently contracted to film your wedding, I’ll abide by that contract and finish and deliver it (in one rare case, I will have a colleague fill in for me).  If you are contacting me after August 1, 2017, I’m no longer taking video only inquiries.  I may consider package video and photo deal, but I will evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

Why am I doing this?

  1. Time
Editing these videos is hard work. Ask any wedding cinematographer and that is the most stressful part about it. I have an awesome team that can edit and shoot, we’ve been together since 2013 but as everything, but nothing can last forever.
  2. Effort
I want to produce the best quality video for your day and as my speaking/mentoring business has grown I want to ensure that I can continue to serve all of my clients.
  3. Passion
I like wedding video, but I don’t love it.  I tell my mentees that you have to have a passion for doing something and right now wedding video isn’t it. I will continue to create promotional and corporate videos for my clients on a case by case basis.
  4. New Challenges
If you know me, I’m always up for new challenges and wedding photography is a highly competitive market.  Ive been dabbling in wedding photography for years but I feel the need for a new challenge and take this head on.
  5. Financials
I need to run a sustainable business for years to come and right now as I shift things in my business I need to make wise business moves.
  6. Equipment
The latest equipment purchases have skewed toward photography and I’ve been selling some of my video equipment and by mid-2018.
  7. Training and Focus
I’ve invested time and resources in workshops with world-class photographers that will assist me in producing exceptional work. I’m staying laser-focused on getting better and producing the best possible images for your wedding.

So can you still book me now?  Sure! I am accepting bookings for 2018 for photography only packages and video.
