Engagement video shoots are becoming very popular as another way to share the joy of your special day with your friends and family. I’ve been busy working on many engagement teaser trailers (especially if you view samples on my Instagram Page).
Below are some tips to get ready for your engagement video shoot.
- Just like an engagement photo shoot, you should hire a professional make-up artist. This is common knowledge to some, but it’s worth repeating. These videos will be part of your family history so you want to look your best.
- Clothing choices-Herringbone and paisley patterns and thin stripes are all very problematic for video. The next big thing to avoid is the color red. Red tends to bleed or glow on camera.
- Interact naturally—it’s not like photography where you stop and start and pose most times, but think of it as a fluid motion, or a waltz dance.
- Smile often and even laugh. This makes for great video. I as a videographer can’t make you smile, but you have to leave all of the stress of the wedding and focus on your fiancee.
- Tell your story. At the end of the day, every engagement video I create is different because everyone has a unique story. It doesn’t matter if you feel the story is not interesting, trust me—everyone wants to hear a good love story.
These are a few tips that I hope you find helpful when planning your engagement video shoot.
